Reykjavik, Iceland

During a holiday in Reykjavik we came across some of the birds common to Iceland.

We were able to spot Icelandic Gulls, Fulmars, Kittywakes, Eider Ducks, and a Red-Breasted Merganser.

Fortunately, we managed to get some photos of an Eider Duck, Kittywake and Shag.

Chiff Chaffs & Black Caps - Alameda Gardens

Here are some photographs of Chiff Chaffs and Black Caps, which were spotted in the Alameda Botanical Gardens about a week or so ago.

Fortunately, the weather conditions were perfect. The cold had set in, yet the sun was still shining bright!

Whilst we were busy capturing photos of the Chiff Chaffs, we heard a distinct bird call. Turning to look at a nearby aloe, we caught sight of a Black Cap feeding.

We immediately knew it was a Black Cap, and it was very interesting to watch this bird as they are very different from a Chiff Chaff, especially as they are larger, and to feed on the aloe they need to perch on it, unlike a Chiff Chaff who hovers around it.
