Raptor migration over Gibraltar

For the past few months we have been following the raptor migration, hoping for westerly winds and spending several hours at Europa Point or the Upper Rock.

High points of the northern raptor migration occur between the months of February and May.

During the migration we managed to observe and photograph the following raptors:

Black Kite

Booted Eagle (Light & Dark Phased)

Short Toed Eagle

Honey Buzzard

Sparrowhawk

Marsh Harrier

Osprey

We had some great days with fantastic views of these birds of prey flying into
strong headwinds trying to make land which most do.
There were a few poor days too when not much was coming across from Africa
but we always spotted a few  which made going up to Europa point worth while.

Enjoy the photos ,until our next post bye for now.
