Corys Shearwater

We took a boat trip  whilst on holiday in Portugal 
in search of Shearwaters,Skuas,and Petrels,we did 
manage to see  all of the above .

Corys Shearwater ,Wilson Petrel,Storm Petrels,
Great Skua,Pomarine Skua,Long- Tailed Skua,

Corys Shearwater came in close enough for a chance of a
decent photo, every thing else stay at binocular distance 
but still had Great day out.

whilst on holiday in Portugal.

La Laguna de Medina & La Bahia de Cadiz

We've recently visited Medina Sidonia and have returned a couple of more times, with good results. As mentioned in a previous post and comments on our facebook page, La Laguna de Medina has definitely recovered and is back to what it used to be.

We have had very good views of  the following:

• Great-crested Grebes
• Black-necked Grebes
• Little Grebes
• Northern Shovelers
• Common Pochards
• Red-crested Pochards
• White-headed ducks
• Gadwalls

Every visit is different, and we were able to see these species closer to the hide, allowing us to take the photos below. We also had good views of a large number of Black-headed Gulls. Within these it is always interesting to try and spot the Mediterranean Gulls which we have seen around there before.

We combined the visit to La Laguna de Medina with a few spots around La Bahia de Cadiz, which turned out to be good for Waders and Terns.
